Just wanted to share some of my pictures from our trip to the Apple Orchard and Pumpkin Patch in Front Royal, Virginia, over the weekend. My husband, Jeff, and I started this tradition a few years ago after much pleading on my part. I think that it is important to create happy memories that we can look back on in the midst of the constant busyness and stress. And, this year, much to my surprise, he actually looked forward to it 🙂
My plan was to stock up on all the tart and crisp varieties they had available – Granny Smith, York, and Stamen – to make our Autumn Apple Bread!
The first order of business, though, was making a pie with Jeff, as preparation for our annual Thanksgiving dinner contribution.
As you can see, Jeff thoroughly enjoys his position in our company as head taste tester. Here he is in an official capacity.
Looks like he liked it!
Next, I experimented with making the Autumn Apple Bread in miniature form. If you haven’t already tried it – you’re going to love this sweet, dense, moist bread!
We pack it with fruit and chopped pecans, and cover the top with butter crumble. They are the perfect two-bite snack. Don’t they look funny?! Similar to a cartoon-like vegetable with a funny hairdo 🙂
Lastly, I experimented with one of our new dessert menu items – Gingerbread Cupcakes – and topped them with Dulce de Leche. Look out peanut butter and chocolate – there’s another irresistible combination!
I hope that all of you can take time this season to continue old and start new traditions,
